Guatemalan Mayan legend says that a person who cannot sleep due to worrying can place a worry doll under the pillow or in their pockets and the doll is thought to worry in the person's place, thereby permitting the person to sleep or play without worry. The dolls are about 1/2 inch (13 mm) tall and handmade from cotton, wood and cardboard.
